The Building Health Seminar was held over two days on 27–28 November 2024, bringing together more than two hundred participants. The main seminar day on Thursday gathered over 160 attendees in Saalastinsali at the University of Oulu, while the pre-event programme on Wednesday – including a tour of the building health pilot laboratory, a workshop, a visit to Oulu City Hall, and an evening dinner – attracted over 60 participants.

The seminar opened with keynote lectures by internationally recognised experts, Professor Jørn Toftum and Professor Yuexia Sun, who addressed indoor environment design principles and the development of healthy and green indoor environments.

During the event, participants heard 22 expert presentations on topics such as:

• indoor air remediation and ensuring building performance
• low-carbon and energy-efficient solutions
• research evidence from successful renovation projects
• global indoor environmental quality challenges
• evolving legislation supporting healthy construction

The seminar provided an excellent platform for networking, resulting in several new collaboration opportunities with companies and research organisations. The event succeeded in delivering up-to-date research knowledge and strengthening cooperation among building health and indoor environment professionals both in Finland and internationally
